We’re excited to announce that The Unit Challenge was named Fitness Challenge of the Year at the Midlands 103 Customer Service Awards 2025!
This unique event, inspired by Special Forces training, is designed to test both mental and physical strength over a structured ten-month programme. Participants train, compete, and push their limits – not just individually, but as a team.
The Unit Challenge has something for everyone – with three tailored routes designed to meet different goals and abilities.
- Scratch offers an elite-level experience for individuals ready to push beyond their limits.
- Team Builder is ideal for clubs or organisations looking to develop leadership and teamwork.
- Junior Challenge includes confidence-building activities for ages 8–17, with summer camps running throughout the holidays.
Since its launch, The Unit Challenge has grown into something more than just a fitness event – it’s become a source of personal achievement and community connection. We’re proud to see it officially recognised by Midlands 103 and an independent judging panel led by Home of the Year’s Hugh Wallace, along with Kel Galavan, Andrea Woods, and Michelle Fitzpatrick.

Shortlisted: Fitness Facility of the Year
To be shortlisted as Fitness Facility of the Year is a huge honour, especially considering the calibre of competition. It reflects the hard work and consistency of our entire team, the positive energy our members bring every day, and our mission to create a space where people of all backgrounds feel supported in their fitness journey.
Shortlisted: Personal Trainer of the Year – David McCormack
A big congratulations goes to our very own David McCormack, who was shortlisted for Personal Trainer of the Year. David brings both professionalism and positivity to every session, and we’re so pleased to see his dedication and work with members recognised at this level.
Supporting the Region’s Best
This year, The Unit Gym was also proud to sponsor the Sports Retailer of the Year category, which was awarded to DSsports in Emo. As a local business ourselves, we know the value of recognition and were delighted to play a part in supporting other outstanding organisations across the Midlands.
A Celebration of Local Excellence
Hosted by Midlands 103, the Customer Service Awards have become a cornerstone of the regional business calendar – a night to celebrate quality, consistency, and care in all areas of service. We’re honoured to be part of it and grateful for the incredible support from our members, staff, and the wider community who made this possible.
